Morality issue of animal cruelty (Aaron Weston)

Approximately 30,000 animals are killed a year due to malnutrition and the animals getting beaten with foreign objects.(1) Animals have been getting abused and mistreated for centuries. Many animals are harmed in many different ways every day. One way that a lot of animals get harmed is getting euthanized because they are too wild because of their owners using them as aggressive protectors or dog fighters. About 8 million dogs and cats go to the shelter every year. And half of them are euthanized because of lack of space or dogs that are deemed non-trainable or too violent to be in the public or too dangerous to be owned (2). It hurts my heart to realize that animals have no control over their lifestyle. They just understand the basic means of survival. Animal abuse is morally wrong because it doesn’t abide by the animal law of liberation which makes it against the law to not treat animals in consideration to how humans would like to be treated.
Like humans, animals are smart enough to do what they feel they need and have to do to in order to survive and live that regular day to day lifestyle. But some neglectful and money greedy owners force their dogs to think that living a fighting and aggressive lifestyle is okay and is the right thing to do, when it shouldn’t be like that because life as a house hold pet shouldn’t be lived through negativity. But sorry to say a lot of people in this world see that illegal field of dog fighting as lucrative. Approximately 20,000 dogs die from dog fighting (3). Many of the dogs aren’t even killed from the actual fight some of the owners feel that the dogs are not useful to them if they get harmed during the fight and is injured in an important limb. So the owners sometimes kill them or leave them to die.
Another large lucrative field that is actually legal in which a mass 50 million animals a year are killed, is the process of them getting their fur removed from their body. That amount is ridiculous. I feel terrible that all of these animals are dying just so that a rich person could look a little more stylish than someone who is in a lower social class than them. Many animals get their skin removed when they are alive so the humans doing the skin removal seem to be very cold hearted because I personally would not be able to do that to an animal at all.
Many beautiful animals die for the benefit of humans. Witnessing unnecessary killings of animals make me feel as if this moral issue needs to be changed. I have seen many examples of animal abuse on YouTube of people around the world abusing animals which allowed me the opportunity to look at this topic as bigger than just another United States problem. Animal abuse is a world-wide problem. People in other countries care less about animals than some of the people in the US. I watched a video of Chinese people throwing a raccoon against the ground and shattering its bones so it would be easier for them to skin it compared to it being fully functional and having the power to fight back (4). I also saw a video of some food market in Pakistan where they were they were beating a coyote and then after the coyote couldn’t stand they would tie and hang it up from a pole and de skin it so that they could sell the fur. I personally was disgusted at how beast like they seemed because we aren’t culturally use to witnessing that in America. Even though we have cruel animal abusers in this country I noticed through some of the videos I seen how animals in different country seem to carry no significance as they do in America.
I hate the fact that animals are being killed because I love animals. My family and I have had so many pets ever since I was born. I think it may have started when I was little because my dad may have wanted me to have a animal loving spirit. So he wanted me to start young. So it is because of my father that I kind of have a sensitive spot for animals. I plan to have pets when I get my own family and continue my family’s pet legacy. And I will try to do my part with helping out the stop of this big problem by educating all the youth around me about how we should cherish and value animals as if they were a part of the family. I also plan to take kids to the SPCA and different shelters so that they can develop a soft spot for animals which will most likely influence them to not perform negatively or harm animals and teach them to cherish other forms of life as if animals were human. Life is life no matter what style of life it is. So I feel they all should be treated with a similar balance of respect and freedom.
Depending on the state or place where the person lives they will think differently about different animal cruelty topics. People in this world sometimes share morals values and ethics but some of them differ and have opposing thoughts toward specific subjects. Like in my example about the animals getting abused for fur trade the Chinese people may not think of it as morally wrong but me as a animal nurturer and lover see it as wrong.  It almost seems like people in other countries accept animal cruelty more because it seems as if it is the only means of easy profit with no high level of education required.
In conclusion people around the world have to understand how animals should be treated in consideration to how humans feel they should be treated.
